RICHARDS BOULEVARD GOES PINK FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS (Video)

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) –

A Sacramento street is going pink in just about every way imaginable to turn heads for breast cancer awareness.
There were pink balloons, pink ribbons — everything was pink.
Richards Boulevard transformed into a breast cancer awareness campaign hoping to get people’s attention and send a message.
“Anything we can do to get more pink out there, more people aware about the cause and do something about breast cancer,” volunteer Sonia Susac said.
More than 20 businesses and the new light rail station were getting a new pop of color.

“The big pink foam ribbons, pendants, anything we can get out for awareness,” said Susan Crane, Pink The Boulevard.
The woman behind the campaign lost her river district business in a fire, and is now rebuilding in that same area. She is a five-year breast cancer survivor.
“The support of everyone is amazing. You don’t even know the people and they show up to help,” said Crane.
Most of the volunteers were sharing personal connections to breast cancer.
Everyone was looking forward to getting people to think pink, as Sacramento prepares for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure next month.
“Please sign up for the race, participate, donate if you can’t run or walk, always send a check in,” said Crane.
The decorations will stay in place through May 11, the day of the race.
